Appendix E: Component Identities
This refers to the COMPONENT ID field which is available in the Transaction maintenance screens MNU_0030x
When online transactions are defined on the Menu database the field component id will usually be left blank. This means that when the transaction is selected the component that is actually activated has the same identity as the transaction. However, it is possible to link a component to more than one transaction so that the same component can be activated with different security settings or different transaction values (extra parameters, child properties, initial values).
This is done by creating a new transaction with a non-blank value for component id. This is best illustrated in the following example:-

It is only necessary to specify a component id when it is different from the transaction id. |
